Auto Insurance

What exactly is Auto Insurance?

It's a contract between you and the insurance Carrier, that protects you financially resulting from:

  •  an accident you cause or someone else has caused
  •  Property damage or bodily injuries caused by an accident
  • Damages that occurred to your vehicle during a storm
  • Theft of your vehicle or damages that occurred while a theft broke into your car

Car insurance also offers medical coverage,  funeral expenses associated with injuries sustained in an accident, and last but not least loss of income stemming from the accident

WHY YOU NEED MORE THAN STATE MINIMUM CAR INSURANCE WHEN YOU OWN A HOME

Owning a home is a significant achievement, and it comes with responsibilities. While many states require only minimum car insurance coverage, homeowners should consider additional protection.

Here's why:

  1. Asset Protection: Your home is likely one of your most valuable assets. If you're involved in a severe car accident and the damages exceed your insurance coverage, your personal assets, including your home, could be at risk in a lawsuit. Increasing your car insurance limits provides an extra layer of protection.
  2. Homeownership Increases Liability Exposure: Homeowners are perceived as having greater financial stability. In the unfortunate event of a severe accident, you may become a target for larger claims. Higher car insurance limits can help protect your assets in case you are held liable for damages or injuries.
  3. Gap Coverage for Medical Expenses: If you own a home, you likely have more to lose in terms of personal assets. Increased car insurance coverage can help bridge the gap if medical expenses resulting from an accident exceed the minimum coverage limits, ensuring you're not left with substantial out-of-pocket costs.
  4. Avoiding Out-of-Pocket Costs: State minimums may not be enough to cover the full extent of damages or medical bills in a serious accident. Having higher coverage limits can prevent you from having to dip into your savings or home equity to cover unexpected expenses.
  5. Protection Against Uninsured Motorists: If you're involved in an accident with an uninsured or underinsured driver, having higher coverage limits can provide a safety net, covering your medical expenses, property damage, and more.
  6. Peace of Mind: Just as with home insurance, investing in adequate car insurance offers peace of mind. Knowing that you have robust coverage in place allows you to focus on enjoying your assets without the constant worry of financial vulnerabilities.

Ultimately, the cost of increasing your car insurance coverage is a small price to pay compared to the potential financial consequences of being underinsured. As a homeowner, it's crucial to align your insurance coverage with the value of your assets. Don't just meet state minimums – protect what you've worked so hard to achieve.
